We hope this newsletter finds you well as the summer starts to come to a close. We are so thankful for each one of you, and appreciate your prayers and support! We could not be doing as well as we are without knowing so many people are thinking, praying and coming along side us as we begin this new ministry. Many of you have heard us speak recently at your church and we have greatly enjoyed getting to know so many of our fellow believers around the country. We just wanted to give you a quick update on how our family is doing and our plans for the next few months.
In the States
Our goal for a while has been to leave in October of this year, which we will be able to do as long as we are fully funded. As we get closer to that date, we have many things to finish up here. Jerry is planning on continuing to work full time until September and we will be visiting churches during the weekends for most of August and into September as well. We will be selling our home and have fixes and updates to get done as well as lots of packing. It’s amazing how many things you accumulate over time and we have a lot of sorting and selling to do!
As our arrival in Paraguay is only a few short months away, we are eagerly anticipating what life will look like once we get there. We hope to find an apartment for a short time while we search for a house that will not only be a good fit for our family, but also be functional for ministry purposes. We will begin language school and join in with the Bible studies Alex and Delta are currently hosting. We hope that by the beginning of next year we will be able to have a church building established and be able to meet regularly on Sunday. As we progress in learning Spanish, we look forward to developing relationships with the people living in Ciudad del Este.
God has been so faithful and we have seen his hand in so many ways over the last few months. He truly is an amazing God!
Hebrews 12:1-3 (ESV) says, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him, endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.”
We want to encourage you to continue running the race God has placed in front of you, and don’t grow weary! What an honor that we can not only serve but be loved by a God so full of grace and mercy. Our race has become faster and full of both joy and heartache as we anticipate our upcoming ministry and leaving behind so many who are dear to us. We look ahead both excited and nervous as our step of faith will soon become reality.
Jerry, Sandi, Addison, and Clayton
Nearly seven months ago I was excited to share with you that Jerry and Sandi had raised 25% of their monthly support. Now that figure is nearing 70%! It’s humbling and amazing to see how the Lord works through His people to supply our needs. This means they still need to raise nearly $1,700 in monthly support before their departure this fall. Please consider giving monthly now so they can know where their support level stands and so that funds will accrue in their account to help with the other one-time expenses for moving to and serving in Paraguay.
If you would like to join the Bomers’ support team you can click HERE to give monthly and/or to give a special gift towards their ministry with GMI in Paraguay.
Pressing towards the goal,
Jeremy Clark, Executive Director of GMI
