“For Some It Is Their First Time to Hold a Nice Ball” – By Eric Mango

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven” Matthew 9:14

Children’s ministry is one of the key ministries in the life of the Church. Over the past few months we have been planning and conducting programs that will help to enhance this ministry, especially in our two churches in Lilongwe. We meet children from different communities every Saturday of the week. We share the gospel with them, and do different activities with them that include games, memorizing verses and song time.

The children love to play ball games. For some it is their first time to hold a nice ball.Victor with a ball

Many of these children do not attend church at the Grace Church in Malawi. Some are Muslims, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Catholics and African initiated churches (AICs). We are grateful to God for the opportunity to have a group of children from different denominational backgrounds so we can share with them the truth of the gospel.

A team of passionate and dedicated teachers is always around to ensure that things are set in place. We are grateful to God for all of them because we realize how each one is blessed with special gifts, and we see how together we work toward one goal.

At the end of August, we held one big event, which was aimed at evangelizing in a larger group with the theme, “Let the little children come to me.” We asked each of the children who are regular attenders of the Saturday program to invite as many friends as they could. How amazing it was to see so many children – about 125 – as compared to the usual number of 30-40. It was so exciting! Our venue was too small to accommodate all of them so we had to move out of the classroom and sit outside. The gospel was shared and a number of children accepted Christ as their Savior and made commitments to follow Him!

Teaching time

After all the teachings, we had our big meal. So yummy! They all loved the food. We had great fun as we all danced and played. The children thought it was so wonderful that a young boy even came to me during our time together and asked if this day marked the end of the world.

Praise report:

We have 4 children from one family, the Bensons, who have been allowed by their parents to join the Grace Church in Malawi. These children are so happy to be part of God’s family. The eldest, Maureen, is so intelligent; she finds it easy to remember much of what is taught in a lesson and can easily memorize verses. We love having them around!

Prayer items:

  • Please pray for these little ones as they grow in the faith that God may use them as vessels of change in their families.
  • Pray for more children to be open to the invitation of the gospel.
  • Pray for their parents to support this ministry by encouraging the children to take part in the programs.
  • Pray that the children will not depart from the truth of God’s Word.
  • Pray for continued dedication among the teachers and for God’s grace as they minister to the little ones.
  • Pray for God to raise many more people who have the passion to serve in this ministry that can be trained to enable them to be more effective.

We are grateful to you all for your prayers, love and continued support toward the Mango ministry.
