I have been traveling with missionaries on home assignment (The Shaw Family) for the past three weeks. While traveling, we stopped to get gas and saw this sign. Behind it, a storm was beginning to brew in the sky. It’s funny how we sometimes think it’s all about us when God is showing His glory and power all around us. We need not look very far…
It reminds me of this passage in Romans:
“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse” (Romans 1:18-20 ESV).
We must remember to give the glory to whom it is due, namely God. He created the heavens and the earth and everything around us. With the same hands that created the mighty mountains and fierce oceans, He carefully crafted us individually. He knows us and saves us from the sins that enslave us. If we know this to be true, we must pray that God removes any traces of selfishness and pride from us. Growing to be more Christlike is a lifetime process, but it is a process that is worth every moment. When the focus is less on us, we will be able to know HIM more! Praise God for the process of sanctification!
